SMART KIGALI INITIATIVE Vs KIGAMBONI SATELLITE CITY INITIATIVE

Having read the Smart Kigali Initiative story and appreciated it, I found that it has lot of important modern things to borrow and learn for the purpose of making some development in our Tanzanian cities.  

  

The Kigamboni New Satellite City

The Smart Kigali initiative which is based in Kigali, the capital City of Rwanda, is equated with what the Government of Tanzania is planning to introduce soon in the country. This is the project known as Kigamboni Satellite City Initiative.  

     

Of course, the aims of introducing the two initiatives might be more or less different. While the Smart Kigali Initiative aim is to modernize the dwellers and visitors of the City of Kigali through the use of ICT for better service delivery, the Kigamboni Satellite City Initiative, on the other hand, aims at modernizing the life of dwellers of Kigamboni City by empowering them to live in modern houses, building an international habour, building modern roads, installing modern telecommunications infrastructures and so forth.

For instance, when you imagine about what is said about how the satellite city of Kigamboni will be, you find that the government of Tanzania has good plans for the dwellers of Kigamboni and all Tanzanians who will be going there to get their services. For that matter, the government of Tanzania wants to make Kigamboni satellite city a demonstration of how modern city should look like.  

   

Nevertheless, the government of Tanzania through its various ministries such as Land and Housing has to borrow more good things that have already been implemented by the government of Rwanda in the Smart Kigali Initiative. The good things that the Tanzanian government needs to borrow are such as: installation of automated taxi metres in taxicabs that will show amount of fare to be charged for a trip. This will protect both drivers and passengers from conflicts. Other services that need to be paid attention to by the Kigamboni Satellite City Initiative will be to make sure financial services and electronic payment systems are offered in  modernized manner. Again, the initiative should make sure there is high speed internet that will enable internet users to run their businesses without problems.
